Just a quick scan through the iTunes store reveals literally hundreds of business/marketing podcasts available to download, for free, straight to your iPod or Mp3 player. There truly is a fountain of marketing knowledge out there for the listening, but with so much choice and so little time how do you know which ones will really be useful for you and your small business and which are just constant pitch fests for the hosts course or membership program?
As I probably listen to between 4-6 hours of podcasts everyday, based around multiple topics but mostly business and Internet marketing related shows, I thought I would put together a small list of what I believe to be are the best business podcasts available today that can realistically benefit your small business marketing knowledge.
It?s taken me a while to weed out the fluff filled pitch fests from the marketing masters but now I have a core group of A-class podcasts subscribed to iTunes. So in no particular order, here is a run down of the top podcasts for small business marketing and systems discussion, strategies and ideas.
Small Business Big Marketing
Aussie interviewers Tim Reid and Luke Moulton wrangle in small business owners, Internet marketing gurus and CEO?s of large organizations for an in depth yet light hearted grilling.
From sole traders who conquered the fashion mags of New York to the marketing professor at?Melbourne?s Monash University, how about an interview with the?Managing Director of LinkedIn Australasia with tips on how to make the most of your LinkedIn profile? Sound good?
The guys have a knack for not only extracting the marketing gold from their guests but also to keep the conversations engaging and entertaining, with running gags and witty banter between the hosts and guests this podcast educates and entertains.

Preneurcast
The Hosts of this podcast Pete & Dom discuss advanced business strategies in a coherent and digestible way.
Entrepreneur Pete Williams,? probably best known for the fact that at the age of 21 he sold Australia?s version of the Yankee Stadium, the Melbourne Cricket Ground (in pieces) and is involved with multiple successful businesses teams up with Co host Dom Gaucher to discuss the ?nuts n bolts? of entrepreneurship.
Dom runs a successful video production company and amongst other achievements was a Technical Solutions Consultant for Xerox.
Together they get deep into the nitty gritty of all aspects of business, marketing, entrepreneurship and life hacking with subjects including outsourcing, product creation, conversion, pricing and sales.

I Love Marketing
Carpet cleaner turned marketing Guru Joe Polish joins forces with real estate marketer Dean Jackson to go old school on your ass by discussing timeless marketing techniques that still work today.
With mind-blowing insight into direct mailing, lead generation, lead conversion, and getting referrals.
The podcast could be a little more concise. It?s very easy to find yourself drifting away, lost in your own ideas and have to skip back several minutes to catch what you may have missed.
The earlier episodes unfortunately fell down on audio quality slightly but as the shows continue the quality improves so I recommend you persevere with the back catalogue to understand fully the methodology discussed. (Keep a notebook handy ? you will get ideas!)

Simplify My Small Business
Adam and Simon, who both run successful local businesses, discuss ways to snatch back time and streamline your small business, simplify your working life and increase profits.
Compared to the other podcasts in this list the Simplify episodes are quite short, usually around the 20 minute mark, making them good for a short commute but a little lacking in depth.
The discussions cover outsourcing, marketing and lead generation tactics, as well as methods to help you de-stress and Simplify the tasks you do on a daily basis within your small business.

Take one host from Small Business Big Marketing (Tim) and pair him up with one of Australia?s leading Internet Marketers (James Schramko) and you have a recipe for taking your small business online in a big way.
This podcast is primarily based in the world of online business and is labelled as an Internet Marketing podcast but for anyone wanting to fully take on digital marketing for their small business this is a great resource.
The premise of the show is that James (the expert) helps Tim (the novice) learn the skills needed to make money online, for any business owner wishing to move more into a passive income model this podcast will take you in the right direction.

Automate My Small Business
This podcast seems to have come to the end of its life sadly as there hasn?t been a new episode out in a long time.
However I have included it in this list because the episodes are still available on iTunes and are jam packed full of useful tips and strategies for removing yourself from your business as much as possible by automating, outsourcing or eliminating the tasks that bog you down as a business owner.
Based loosely on the philosophies of popular lifestyle design books ?The Four Hour Work Week? and ?The Lean Startup?, both hosts certainly know how to build and implement systems and this podcast is a great entry point into digital marketing techniques for small business owners.
